Learn how to choose a location for your Dines device, and how to set up a new one.
Updating Your Terminal’s Location is an easy, yet crucial step in using EPOS on Dines.
Having an accurate location is important because it is linked to transactions on customer bank statements. For Dines users, especially those operating at festivals or across multiple locations, it's vital to ensure the location reflects where you are trading. If the address is incorrect, customers may become confused about the charges, which can potentially lead to costly disputes and chargebacks for your business.
In this guide, we will show you how to update your terminal location, so you can always be sure that the correct address appears on bank statements.

Choosing an Existing Location
You may be trading at a location where you have used Dines previously. Therefore, you will not need to add a new location, you will simply need to select from a list saved on your account.
To do this, login to the Dines For Venues app, and navigate to Functions > Card Reader Settings > Choose Device Location > Select, as shown below.
Choosing this will bring you back to the main EPOS screen, where a pop-up will appear. Here, you will see a list of the locations you have already used for trade.
Select the correct location, while not forgetting to connect your card reader on the following step, and you’re done! The location you have chosen will now be reflected on customer bank statements.
Please Note: You will need to choose location on every Dines device you are using to trade. If you are using more than one device, simply repeat the steps above on the other devices.
Adding a New Location
There are likely going to be times where you are using Dines at a location for the first time. To begin, please ensure that you are logged into the correct Dines account on your device. It is worth noting you’ll need to follow these steps on each device that you plan to use for transactions. That’s because this is a device-level setting, as opposed to an account-level setting.
To add a new location for your terminal, navigate to Functions > Card Reader Settings > Choose Device Location > Select, as shown below.
You will be taken back to the main EPOS screen, where a pop-up will appear. This will display a list of locations where you have already used Dines to trade.
At the top right corner of the pop-up, tap “Add” to create a new location.
Now, all that’s left to do is add your location! You'll have the option to enter a name for this new location at the very top. This could be something that helps you easily identify it, like the name of the festival, event, or pop-up where you’re trading.
And, of course, the rest involves simply entering the address! Inputting the street name, city and postcode will assist customers in identifying where they purchased from your stall. Choose “Add Location” once you are happy with everything in the above fields, and it will be added to your list of locations.
Please Note: If you are trading at a greenfield site (e.g., a festival), please use the site address and postcode given to you by the event organiser.
Tip: To remove a location, simply hold down on the address and choose “Remove Location.”
Your Dines account will keep these locations stored for future use, so feel free to add as many locations as you require. Please just be mindful of selecting the correct location whenever you trade. Whether you're moving between different branches, trading at several festivals, or anything else, keeping your terminal location up to date will ensure that all transactions are recorded correctly.
