If Dines are attending your venue or event on-site, the tips in this article will put us in the best position to assist.
It's time for Dines to visit your venue! To ensure that we can provide the best possible software support on-site, it’s very important to prepare hardware in advance. For example, if devices are not updated or charged until they are on-site, this will likely cause delays due to the required Apple updates, and therefore devices may not be ready in time for service.
The following list of pre-event hardware preparation steps will assist in checking over any kit that has been sitting in storage since the last event season!
Main Preparation
Below are steps which must be taken before we arrive on-site. Failure to complete these tasks in time may lead to delays.
- Ensure that iPhones/iPads and Wisepads are fully charged.
- The iPhones/iPads are generally charged by a Lightning Cable, whereas Wisepads are charged by USB-C.
- Update the iPhone/iPad iOS to the latest version on each device.
- This is the software on each iPhone, which must be on the latest version to decrease the chances of bugs during service. Please consult Apple's guide for updating iPhones and iPads here - it shouldn't take long at all!
- Double-check that you have enough of the below (with spares!)
- iOS devices
- Wisepads
- Mains plugs (ensuring they have the correct connections for the cables being used)
- iPad / iPhone chargers
- Wisepads Chargers
Preferred But Optional
These steps are not entirely essential, as we should be able to deal with these when we arrive on-site. However, if you do find yourself a spare moment, please feel free to jump on the below so that we are in the best place for supporting your team when service begins.
- Install the Dines for Venues app and make sure it is fully updated.
- The Dines for Venues app can be found here. To check that the Dines app is up to date, open the app, head to "Functions," scroll down to "Troubleshooting" and click "Open App Store." If you are only given the option to "Open," then you are up to date! If it prompts you to "Update," however, please do so.
- Log into the correct account for Dines For Venues & label the account on iPhone/iPad.
- This one is self-explanatory - make sure you are logged into the correct account so that you are ready to trade! To log in, simply open the Dines app and enter your details. If you wish to log in to a different account, head to Admin > Fully Sign Out From This Venue (at the very bottom of the page).
- Additionally, please ensure that you have labelled the iPhone/iPad so that we can easily identify which account it is logged into.
- Devices paired to card readers

- Card readers + devices labelled with their matched till numbers.
- Similar to the above, please ensure that each card reader has a label matching the relevant till it will be used at. E.g., "Till 005" and "Card Reader 005".
