Use this guide for everything that follows the sales process. Everything Checkout-related can be found here.
CHECKOUT
CHECKOUT settings are for situations that follow the sales process. Here, you will find essential steps for configuring your checkout settings, which include fine-tuning Tipping settings, adding Discount Codes, and activating Prepaid Tabs.
Tipping;
To create a new Tipping Configuration, click on “New” at the top right. This will open up a menu, providing you with several options to configure your tipping settings. First, Name your tipping configuration so that it is easily identifiable, and then choose whether you’d like this configuration to appear on Mobile Ordering or EPOS by using the Configuration Type drop-down menu.
From here, you have three options for the type of tipping you wish to offer;
- Percentage Tipping; Using this, you can offer three suggestions of how much the customer can tip. Please note that you only need to enter the number of the percentage you want to offer, e.g., typing “5” will mean 5%.
- Fixed Tipping; If you would prefer to set fixed amounts for how much your customer can tip, you can enter three options in the boxes below. As above, you do not need to add the “£” sign. Entering the number “5” will mean that a £5 tipping option will appear.
- Smart Tipping; Smart Tipping enables an automatic switch in your default tip settings from fixed amounts to percentage-based tips when an order reaches or exceeds your selected threshold.
- To set this up, first enter your threshold in Smart Tipping Threshold. This is the order value which, when met, will automatically switch from Fixed Tipping to Percentage Tipping. So, for example, entering “50” will mean that when an order has exceeded £50, tipping will switch from Fixed to Percentage.
- Now, set your Percentage Tipping Values, which will automatically apply once the Tipping Threshold is reached.
- Finally, set your Fixed Tipping Values, which will be the suggested tips before the Tipping Threshold is reached.
Discounts;
The 'Discount' option allows you to generate codes that can be applied during checkout on EPOS, or entered as codes on Mobile Ordering. For example, if you want to run a promotion that offers a 10% discount, you can create a code for this using Discounts. Your staff can then select and apply this code when customers are checking out.
To begin, tap “Create Discount” at the top right. You will see three tabs at the top; Details, Usage Limits and Weekly Schedule. Below, we will guide you through each one.
- Details: Here, you set the name of your Discount Code, eg, 10OFF for 10% off. Then you can choose your Discount Type, whether this is Percentage based, a Fixed Amount, or a Custom Value which your staff can set on checkout. If you have selected Percentage or Fixed Amount, you can set your value in the box to the right. Don’t forget to add a Discount Message at the bottom, so that the nature of the discount is clear on checkout.
- Usage Limits: This is where you can add certain limitations for the Discount. For example, you can choose where this Discount can be applied, whether it’s for All order types, or only On Premise, or for Collection or Delivery. You can also set the maximum value of a discount, so if you only wish to offer a maximum of £10, you can simply enter “10” here. And if your discount is only running for a set period of time, you can set Start and End Dates in the final box.
- Weekly Schedule: In the final tab, you can choose whether your discount is active 24/7, or only on specific days/times. If you wish your discount to only be available on weekends, simply deselect all boxes from Monday to Friday. Similarly, if the discount is only available on mornings, you can set your Active Until time to 12:00.
Prepaid Tabs;
Prepaid tabs allow customers to pay in advance for orders that they wish to place in the future. This follows the same template as Discount Codes, with a few notable exceptions which will be listed below.
- In the Details tab, you can set the Balance Cap for the Prepaid Tab, which will be the value that the custom has agreed to Pre-Pay. Below, enter the customer’s name and email address for the tab, so that you know exactly whom the tab relates to.
- Usage Limits will allow you to set where this Prepaid Tab can be used, and also from which dates it will be active.
- Just like the Discount Codes feature mentioned earlier, the Weekly Schedule tab provides you with the flexibility to keep the Prepaid tab active continuously or restrict it to specific days and time periods.
Once you have taken the customer’s details, they will receive an email like the below, with a link to pay for the tab.
They are then presented with a QR code which they can use to pay for orders on Dines. QR codes can be scanned on the EPOS checkout page.
Vouchers;
Vouchers follow very much the same format as Prepaid Tabs above, with the only exception being that no prepayment is required. Customers can use Vouchers whenever they wish, redeeming them at your venue through use of the Voucher Code, or QR Code.
Please note: Vouchers must be enabled at our end, so if you have interest in using these at your venue, please drop an email to care@dines.co.uk and we'll get you sorted!
