Accessing the New Reporting
Let’s start with the basics - such as how to access our new reporting feature.
This will be as you remember it. To access reporting, you will still need to log in to your Dines account on desktop or iOS, and navigate to the reporting tab. Here, you can go to the Reports section, and then choose the “Reports” tab at the top of the screen.
Please Note: This article specifically covers the “Reports” section within the Reporting tab. All other sections such as Summary, Invoices and Payouts will still function as described in our original Dines Reporting article.
So, What’s New?
Dozens of Reports
(... plus many, many more than what you see in these screenshots!)
The updated system now includes over 100 reports organised into multiple categories, each with the ability to sort and filter data to your liking. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though - more on that later in the article!
Favourite Reports
One feature that's carried over - and still just as handy - is the ability to "Favourite" reports.
By clicking the star icon next to any report in any category, you can instantly add it to your "Favourite Reports" section. This way, the data you need most is where it should be: at the top.
Feel free to add as many reports as you like to this section. You can also remove reports at any time by doing the same action in reverse - just click the star again and it will be removed from your Favourite Reports.
Lightning Fast and Super Efficient
When you click on to any report, you’ll notice a sleek, modern design, making it easier to focus on data. More importantly, you may notice how quickly your data loads! Thanks to our dedicated development team, reports now load in record time, meaning that you can see your data without delays at any time of day.
Plus, with the enhanced layout, you can see more data on screen at once, giving you a full overview of everything you need to know at a glance.
Sort, Filter and Adjust to Your Liking
Now it’s time for the true beauty of our new reporting updates. No matter which of the 100+ reports you choose, you’ll have the power to sort, filter and adjust your data to your liking.
At the top of each reporting page you will find user-friendly options for filtering your data, such as Date Range and Time. The Date Range filter allows you to select a single day, set a custom date range, or choose from handy presets such as “This Month” or “Last Month.”
When it comes to Time, you can break down your data into specific periods, whether that’s a three-hour block in the afternoon, or half an hour before closing!
Please Note: The exact filters you see will vary depending on the report, so you'll only be shown the options relevant to that specific dataset.
On this bar you can also filter by order state, allowing you to focus on Live Orders that have been either created, accepted, or completed. You can also specify your “end of day” closing time, select the frequency of the data (daily, weekly etc), and determine the source of each order, whether that is an on-site order, a collection order, or a delivery order.
On the report table itself, you will see dynamic headings that change depending on the report you’re viewing. However, one thing that sticks through every report is the ability to click each heading and sort based on the column.
For example, in the Highest Selling Products report, you could choose to sort by quantity sold, total value, or gross profit (if you’ve attached cost prices to your items). You can even choose to include only the items that have sold more than £100, by entering an amount in the Value heading’s pop-up box.
The possibilities for filtering and sorting are truly endless. We absolutely encourage you to explore these features and tailor your reports to your heart’s content. But don’t stop here - there are many more new features to discover below!
View Your Data in a Different Way
Sometimes it helps to look at data through a different lens. We understand that starting at rows and rows of numbers can be exhausting for the eye, which is why we have introduced a variety of different views for each report.
Depending on the report, you can now choose to view your data as line, bar, pie, doughnut, and area charts. Each of these formats offers a unique perspective on the same data you see in table view, making it easier to identify trends and patterns. By switching between these views, you can gain deeper insights and make more informed decisions based on your data.
To change your view of a report, simply select “Switch View” at the top left. Clicking any of the options here will instantly generate the report in a different view for you.
Please keep in mind that not all reports support every visualisation type due to the nature of the data. However, if you feel we’re missing a specific view that would enhance your experience, don’t hesitate to reach out! You can contact us anytime at care@dines.co.uk, and we’ll be happy to explore adding that option for you.
Pivot!
In selected reports, you can now pivot your data for a slightly different angle. For example, the Highest Selling Products report will, as standard, give you a view of which items are topping the sales charts, like Sprite or Beefeater Gin. But, with just a click, you can also view the same data by its linked category, such as Softs or Spirits.
To do this, simply click the “Pivot” option where applicable.
Exported Exactly As You’d Expect
Exporting reports works just as you’d expect. Any filters or sorting you’ve applied will be reflected in your export, so the file you download always matches what you see on screen.
To export a report, simply hit the “Export” button at the top right of each report. This will automatically download the report as a .CSV file to your device, which can be opened using any spreadsheet software.
Forever Innovating
The best part is, even with all of the above in mind, we’re not even done. We have bigger plans. At the moment we have over 100 reports, but there are plans in place to expand that significantly. We are committed to adding dozens more reports and report categories, so that any time you wish to see a specific piece of data, it will be readily accessible.
With that in mind - stay tuned! We have plenty more innovations in store with our new Reporting update. But for now, we hope these enhancements make your data analysis smoother and easier!
